Program Overview

At ECAT, you’ll learn the skills you need to succeed in Erie’s job market. Our unique program teaches both job skills and personal development.

No Financial Cost to Any Student

Eligible students (must be a resident of PA and hold a high school diploma/GED) can apply to the program and, if enrolled, will receive a one-time institutional grant to cover all tuition, materials and fees. All we ask in return is that our students fully commit themselves to this life-changing opportunity for career growth and success.

Short-term (10 Months or Less)

While there is no financial cost to attend ECAT’s programs, we do expect our students to make a full-time, personal commitment. That means attending all classes as scheduled to make the most of your time training with us.

Demand-driven training for career-specific skills

ECAT’s career programs were chosen based on local job data. We want to train you for the jobs that are open, right here, right now, in Erie County. And we include local employers on our advisory board to make sure that the skills you receive are the right ones for your field.

Specialized Learning Spaces

Each program includes space for classroom and hands-on skill training to provide you with the right mix of educational class time.

Mentorship and Student Support

We know that going back to school (especially as an adult!) can be challenging. Our holistic approach includes a dedicated Student Support team that can help you address the barriers that might get in the way of your success. We’ll work with you to solve problems related to childcare, transportation and stress by connecting you with solutions right here in your community.

Personal and professional development training

Soft skills are important to your career, too. In cooperation with our community partners, we’ll provide you with soft skills training on everything from professional work attire to resume writing to interviewing.

Low student to teacher ratio

Our career programs ensure that no more than 15 students are assigned to one instructor at any given time so that each student gets the personal attention they need.

Externship opportunities and job placement assistance

Many of our programs include a built-in externship opportunity as part of your training. We’ll work to connect you with local employers who are hiring in your field.
