July 19 from 11 AM – 4 PM
A Community Artmaking Event & Fundraiser
Make art with a 3,000-pound steam roller!
How It Works
Artists carve a design into a wood block
68 total blocks are available. This year’s theme is City Life. Create an animal, plant or person in your community.

Each block will be printed 3 times
These limited-edition prints will be for sale and proceeds benefit ECAT’s Teen Arts program.

On July 19, we’ll combine the designs to make BIG art prints of our city.
By driving over it with a 3,000lb steam roller. These big prints will live with our community partners.

Carving a Block
A limited number of wood blocks are available to carve. Blocks are MDF board and 6” x 6” in size. In our experience, blocks this size typically take between 1 and 5 hours to carve.
To register to carve a block, sign up here. The $15 registration fee covers the materials, access to tools, and a print of your design.
Each registrant is asked to design a person, plant or animal they can find in their community. What this looks like is entirely up to you! Your design will be added to the part library to make our big collage cityscape.
Completed blocks must be submitted by Thursday, July 17 at 8 PM. That evening, we will host a celebration at Grounded Printshop where everyone who carved a block can share their work and print their design.
There will be a series of free Community Carve events where artists can access free carving tools, ask questions, get inspired and make friends. You are not required to attend these events, but they are available if you want help or feel like being social. See the calendar above for dates.
