Clinical Medical Assistants
Clinical Medical Assistants communicate between doctors and patients and play a significant role in patient advocacy. They are masters of a wide range of skills and assist with both clinical and administrative tasks. These tasks include scheduling appointments, filing and updating medical charts, taking vital signs, and drawing blood.

Classes take place at ECAT, located on Erie’s Eastside at 650 East Ave. Monday – Friday from 8:30AM – 3PM.
This 7-month (28 week) program runs from September 18th, 2023
– April 19th, 2024
Externships in the 4th quarter allow students to learn in a working medical facility and network within the community.
Graduates are prepared to sit for the CCMA exam through the National Healthcareer Association.

Cost
Tuition is offered at no financial cost to any student. Supplies such as scrubs, stethoscopes, and school laptops are also provided at no cost.
Costs associated with clearances, immunizations, screenings, driver’s license or PA State ID, and/or transcripts are the applicant’s responsibility.
Schedule
Classes meet Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM at the ECAT Wayne Building. The program takes 28 weeks (7 months) to complete.
Quarter 1: September 18 – November 3
Quarter 2: November 13 – January 5
Quarter 3: January 22 – March 4
Quarter 4: March 18 – April 19 (5 week externship)
Program Requirements
To participate in ECAT Clinical Medical Assistant program you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Be a resident of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Complete a math and reading assessment
- Obtain all required clearances and immunizations
- Pass all screenings

- Doing electrocardiograms (heart test) and other medical tests

Externship
In the fourth quarter, students are paired with a local medical facility to complete their training before sitting for the CCMA exam.
This hands-on experience, coupled with the continued mentorship and guidance of their instructors, allows students to gain confidence in their field.
